About The Forum
Arizonans face significant challenges in accessing quality mental health care. Arizona has enacted some of the most aggressive responses to food resource restrictions and with the implementation of the medicaid work requirements in January 2027, 64% of African Americans in the state will be impacted with new requirements for benefit enrollment. In Arizona, 80% of psychologists are in private practice and we are 49th in the nation in terms of mental health professional staffing ratios. Our ability to address these gaps in care and build collaborative networks between providers and social service organizations is critical.
Despite a significant investment in resources toward these disparities, the utilization of services remains lower among African Americans than most other minority groups.

This community forum will present information that informs providers and community stakeholders on these shifts in coverage, the opportunities for privately funded projects, updates on legislative inititiatives and recent research on our most notable inequity in maternal health and mortality.
We are excited to bring Ehi Azugbene from ASU's College of Health Solutions and Natasha Townsend from Health Begins Consulting Firm to share important updates in health equity. More speakers and highlights to be announced.
As providers and community advocates, our collective response to these issues is imperative in creating the necessary safety nets that will help prevent further health decline.
